Since its founding in 2017, EcoBrixs has grown from a community-based waste-picking organisation into one of Uganda’s leading plastic collection and recycling enterprises. Based in East Africa, EcoBrixs has gained recognition beyond its borders, collecting up to 100 tons of PET, HDPE, and LDPE plastics per month. The organisation’s innovative approach to addressing local challenges while meeting community needs has enabled it to establish various product lines integrated into the local markets.

By enhancing the recycling process value chain, EcoBrixs has expanded income-generating opportunities. In addition to selling plastic flakes, they directly recycle waste plastic into new, practical products, which serves as a major revenue stream and a foundation for creating green jobs. Hundred of income opportunities are created.
Over time, EcoBrixs has broadened its programs and now specialises in disability employment and youth educational initiatives as well. It has also built strong partnerships with both local and international stakeholders, including the Masaka Diocese, the Buganda Kingdom, and charities such as Tearfund and the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.
Plasticpreneur’s solutions have played a crucial role in supporting EcoBrixs' organic growth, allowing them to add recycling production lines that match their expansion. Their strategy of running multiple smaller production lines, rather than relying on one large machine, is not only more cost-efficient but also allows for easier maintenance and product changes.
